That's a frightening list, but I wish the paper gave some indications of incidence and, ideally, comparative benchmarks to that.
As it stands, that list is sort of like the list of side effects from a drug. "May cause acne, mild drowsiness, mild stomach upset, or death from severe myocarditis." I just never know what to do with that info.
>what to do
ergo, I agree. I think the takeaway is get vaccinated for Covid and keep up with the boosters, but we already know that. Still it's worth repeating for those that have not gotten the memo.
> keep up with the boosters
I guess my question was how it relates to other diseases. Having gotten every booster up until this one and having gotten Covid twice, I feel like my priority should be getting my act together on my other vaccines. Still haven't done shingles. And as I learned during the TX outbreak, my measles is probably from a time when the vaccine wasn't as good and needs to be boosted at this point.
Yes, I should probably do it all. Yes, I promised my sister two years ago that I would go in for my "annual" physical (the last one being 11 years ago now). But most of that medical stuff is stuff I just never get around to. But vaccines and probably basic blood work are the low-hanging fruit. Colonscopy is a couple rungs up the ladder and also on the list as it has been over 10 years.
Here in Manitoba shingles is (or at least was) not paid for by our health system, individuals have to pay themselves.
So, a few years ago Marcel and I got shingles shots (series of two) and called it our Christmas gift to each other.
