Title: U.S. Coffee Collapse: Canada Quietly Took Over the Market Overnight | George Wil
Post by: ergophobe on December 15, 2025, 10:29:19 PM
"Canada never set out to corner the coffee market.... The world still respects American power, but it has become wary of American volatility...."

Unfortunately, video with no transcript and I'm not seeing this covered elsewhere.

TL;DL - Canada didn't try to seize US market share, it simply sought stability and that was attractive to Brazil who decided it would rather sell to a stable partner than a big partner, which has "thrown [US] supply models into disarray... almost overnight." Brazilian farmers and exporters are not in some ideological battle, they are trying to make a living and looked for a stable partner and it wasn't the US, it was Canada.

>volatility

When you become a loose cannon, don't be surprised when others treat you as a loose cannon.

Excellent video.  I always liked George Will.
