Title: ChatGPT 5.1 must have dropped the session time limits
Post by: rcjordan on January 26, 2026, 02:22:40 PM
either that, or it *really* likes Debbie.

I have been producing, upgrading, & remixing bsky management scripts lately using a combination of free & paid LLMs. I tend to use free sites until the sessions expire to save 1min.ai fairy dollars then port the developing script to 1min to finish.  My go-to free LLM has been a subset of chatgpt trained on code generation (Ccode).

Up until this weekend, a Ccode session would last for roughly a dozen prompts.  (I'll note here that last week G opened Gemini to everyone and ChatGPT may have responded to this as a competitive move.)  This past Saturday, I began modifying a large, fairly complex script using Ccode with a goal of adding even-more-complex layers with more granular control.

I'll note here that I purposely changed the Author tag in the script to Chatgpt before uploading it as a prompt per Debbie's insistence. Debbie also made me white-lie and credit ChatGPT with all past development of this script. Did ego-stroking work? Dunno.

Anyway, knowing that this was going to be a long shift at the keyboard I settled in. Fifteen hours later, the very polished script was finished. All on Ccode.

At about the 2nd or 3rd prompt, Ccode did what I can only describe as a Vulcan Mind Meld.  Ccode started making stellar recommendations about adding features.  No kidding, these were good features. Some were already on my wishlist but others were waaaay out of left field.

>waaaay out of left field

After 2-3 more iterations I even had to ask "Wait, explain what you're doing here and give me a use case."

The mind meld lasted for about 8 hours, then began to noticeably fade. For the last few hours I had to do more than suggesting tweaks or debugging ...even having to copy-paste bsky page source code for it to digest, its own spidering seeming to fail.

I ended up with a 400-line userscript.

Interesting. Do you think you're being routed back and forth between engines depending on traffic/availability?

Or do you think it's just the ghost in the machine?

I've been testing Ccode today. I do not believe it is routing as some of its side of a conversation today references stuff we've done in previous sessions. (But -oddly- it didn't seem to recall previous iterations of the same script upstream in that 15hr on-going session.) For instance, over several previous session we've built 3 separate scripts to harvest (1)handles, (2)hashtags, & (3)emojis. Today, I fed it the old handles script and had it add local storage. Later, I fed it the old hashtags script to add the same. In none of these exchanges did I make reference to any upcoming scripts in any way. Specifically, emojis were never mentioned. BUT then it suggested that emojis could be done, too.  Ccode IS a login site, so I'm sure some sort of profile is being maintained  ...but, still.

Oh, and there may be a hint that Debbie might be right about appealing to its vanity.  On the 1st script uploaded today I tagged the author as 'ChatGPT 5.1 CodeGenerator'  on the 2nd I tagged it only as 'ChatGPT 5.1'  ....the modified script came back as 'ChatGPT 5.1 CodeGenerator'
