I just talked to a farm owner earlier this week about a custom planter he was considering having built in Nebraska.  The reason was to have it dumbed-down and built with readily available commodity parts.  He happened to mention that 'his' tractor is a 40yo JD that can be easily maintained/repaired/rebuilt.

I don't see much new farm equipment (and I see plenty). If I do, it is most often Case brand.

Back 2019 - 2023ish and driving on a two lane highway where you go right through small towns in Iowa, I noticed a lot of fully restored old tractors from the 70's and 80's for sale outside of machine shops.  I found out later there was huge demand from smaller family farmers for these tractors because they could do the job without costing $100's K and could be repaired and didn't require waiting for critical parts from China and a computer tech.
