part of the answer: KISS
I used to be able to sit in the car while someone else pumped gas and checked the oil level and tire pressure.
I used to be able to call the manufacturer of my computer and get tech help.
I used to have a travel agent who would find the best flight.
We have moved more and more to a self-service economy. OTOH, to some extent, I can still pay to have another human do these things. It just isn't built into the price. It's more like 150 years ago in the West or 50 years ago in India where if you are modestly wealthy, you have a servant to do this.
It's like the quip attributed to Agatha Christie: I never thought I would be wealthy enough to afford a television or too poor to afford a servant.
