Title: Solar car produces more energy than it uses on a daily basis
Post by: ergophobe on August 07, 2026, 07:54:28 PM
Clemson student project. It won't be on the highway soon - it's a 550kg car with lots of carbon fiber and aluminum and almost certainly no air bags.

But it uses wraparound solar cells and is able, under ideal conditions of course, to make a 12-mile commute (us average) and still create a 31-mile energy surplus.

So for an average commuter in a sunny area with exposed parking on a clear day, it will use less energy on the commute than it uses in the day
