If the blog owned by Andreesen and Horowitz says it, it must be true. I don't know how much editorial influence Andreesen and Horowitz have over this blog, but given that their world view is so much different than mine, I'm always a bit skeptical.

I don't necessarily recommend reading this. The basic argument is that if enshittification is real, why are people spending more time in Instagram?
Of course, from the perspective of someone like Andreesen, that's all that matters.
Structurally, this is exactly like the Biden (then Harris) campaign telling people, "I know you think the economy is bad, but you're just wrong. Look at the numbers. We've done great things for you."
This is also exactly the campaign that Trump is rolling out for the midterms as a test for 2028. And yes, RC, we will have elections in 2026 and 2028. I'm not convinced they will be open and fair, but we will have them and there will be a campaign. It might resemble Hungary, but even there, Orban did eventually lose.
Anyway, to me, all three of these are basically the same argument
A. We track numbers that we think are important or, at least, are easy to track
B. You have feelings that we do not think are important because there is no easy number we can track that matches your feelings
C. Therefore, your feelings on this issue are wrong.
But C should be
C. Therefore, our numbers are failing to capture something fundamental and we need additional or different numbers.
