... apparently the most worrisome metal is copper.
It's amazing how much we are learning right now in medicine and biology, but also how little we know about fundamental processes. Is copper good or bad? Depends on the situation and who you ask.
Full circle. In the "All Creatures Great and Small" books the author talks (post-World War II) about when first sulfa drugs and then antibiotics finally made their way to veterinary medicine. He had been talking about, pre-antibiotics, they had used a copper wash to fight an ailment in cattle which had some some beneficial effect but how antibiotics seemed like magic cure in comparison and how all those apothecary bottles in the vet surgery started gathering dust to be replaced by a small cabinet containing antibiotic vials.
Makes me wonder if some of those old pre-antibiotic treatments might be used to augment modern medicines against stubborn maladies.
