You go first.
I already did LASIK.
And I was scared. I spent over 2X what friends did to go to one of the original FDA pilot sites. As a broke recently graduated person, it was a lot of money for me.
But my surgeon had over 10,000 surgeries under his belt and his partner who was in the original study had even more they treated it like "surgery" not a "procedure." For example, the "what to expect" video showed a guy in a shirt and tie doing the procedure. My crew was in full surgical scrubs like it was heart surgery. They told me that in their opinion the biggest risk was infection and in the history of their clinic, they had not had an infection from LASIK.
This new option seems a lot less scary.
But to your point, never go first unless you are out of options
