‼️ 19" of rain in 6 hours!!
This has to be one of the most extreme rainfalls I've ever seen.
12" in 3 hours, 19" in 6 hours in SW Mississippi near the Louisiana border, north of Picayune in Pearl River County last night.
This doesn't just meet the 1000-year criteria... it exceeds it by a margin that's almost hard to comprehend. The NWS there issued a Particularly Dangerous Situation Flash Flood Emergency
The reason: Super El Nino's Amplified Subtropical jet stream on top of a warmer Gulf/ warmer atmosphere. This allows for excess moisture, higher rain rates, and bigger floods.
