This should be a nice chunk of change for Automattic right from the get go. It doesn't have to be great, just better than nothing, since that's the only alternative on WP.com at the moment.
I expect a fair number of people who opt for blogspot because of the restrictive ad policies on WP.com might make a different choice now.
A big win for Federated Media too - monopolistic access to millions of sites.
