Title: Tesco link hack
Post by: thesaintv12 on December 18, 2011, 04:19:35 PM
My Mrs spotted an interesting hack on Tesco's grocery site today.

When we ran a product search certain words would be hyperlinked for example in  'No products match you search' the word 'match' would link to a dating site. Other links would be to win an iphone type sites, but designed to use the Tesco colours.

I should have made some notes, but we were in a rush.  I have seen similar things in some of my sites which were hacked a while back.

Then I got to thinking, hack, or tesco IT worker coining it in on sign up offers?

i did see adsense adds on a couple of searches at the bottom of the page underneath the listing found similar to what i searched for but I cant emulate it again for those keywords

there is a tool called a mattock what i knew tesco would not sell  and when i searched for this all I got was adsense ads

could be a plug-in throwing in some contextual links based on word matching.

See if you can replicate it on the original browser and then test on something else.
