My wife and I had our first baby yesterday at 7:12. He was 8lbs 13 ozs and was 21.5 inches long. 17 hours of labor later I have a whole new respect for my wife.

Clyde William Sousa is his name. Not sure why but I have always liked the name Clyde.

He looks great *and* you're biased (it doesn't have to be an "or" you know).

And I have always thought there's a "cool" with Clyde.

Grandma & Grandpa seem especially pleased.

On a side note, there seems to be a lot of this happening around here lately. Did someone spike the water cooler?

That is a long period of labour... it's very impressive the way women handle this ordeal.

Clyde has a river named after him in Scotland, hopefully he can make the trip to visit it one day

Thanks everyone. It has been a great weekend getting to know the little guy, introducing him to friends and family, and trying to figure out how to be parents. It has been the best Christmas ever.

One of my grandaughters was 4 on Christmas Eve - and she's a delighful, clever, funny little soul - hope yours is the same :)
