Merry Christmas, Happy belated Solstice and every other imaginable holdiday.

We've all almost finished our 2011 trip around the sun. I hope it's been a great journey for everyone, but not as great as the 2012 trip will be!

Quotehow many raving US anti-xmas activists

I had fun with this when the Sean Hannity book came out. I made up a "Make War on Christmas, Not Iraq" tshirt on cafepress (just looked at it for the first time in years, and damn those shirts have gotten pricey; can't imagine buying one at the current price). As a historian focusing on the Calvinist movement, I find the whole crusade to "save" Christmas hilarious. John Calvin crusaded for a decade to abolish Christmas finally succeeding in 1550. When a large crowd showed at his Dec 25 sermon, he called them "rabid dogs" for coming to church thinking it was a special day!

I'll take up the anti-xmas banner for Asia if need be... ;)
It's such a commercial holiday here....although I'm forced to participate... It's my only chance to get a new scarf.
Happy holidays to you all!
