Title: Google / Firefox
Post by: agerhart on January 28, 2012, 09:50:02 PM
Mozilla is a non-profit organization

Is there anyway for a for-profit organization such as Google to acquire a non-profit organization?

I'm sure they've thought of it, but considering the important of the browser market, and how little market share Chrome has, it seems like a natural fit for Google to acquire Firefox.

If it is feasible.

Chrome's overtaken Firefox's market share through, and it's still growing. If the current trends continue it'll be ahead of Internet Explorer within a year. All Google needs to do is wait. They also renewed their default search agreement with Mozilla recently, which I believe is worth around £100m per annum to Mozilla.
