"These days your fingers are likely walking on iPad touchscreens, not dead tree pages. After a decade of obsolescence, the local phone directory is finally getting the chop as states wise up to reality. "

IIRC, your prediction was correct to the year, RC.

Dumb luck.  I was off by a DECADE on the state sales tax nexus thing.

That guy should have paid us the $300/hr.  We might have at least slowed the collapse.

The Danish version, which got bought by European Directories by millions of $ a few years back just had their 4th or 5th appearance on a local consumer tv show where they got grilled for cheating small business into hooking up a paid yearly membership for something that would bring in nothing to their business but cost a fortune.

They are struggling BIG TIME.

I'm seeing a huge yellowpages.com TV ad push here.  I visited the site.  Nothing to see here, move along.  To make their site relevant, they should be doing everything possible to purchase groupon.

I can't see the phone books as being relevant anymore just because there are many, many people who only use a cell phone and don't even own a land line.  And they do so because they can keep their cell private and don't have to worry about stupid telemarketers who troll the phone books.

Yeah there has to be some natural incentive to make the extra effort of visiting their YP site.  Deals was the only thing that came to mind.

Yellow Pages Assoc. president says they are working on a site, yellowpagesoptout.com, that would allow people in any municipality to opt-out.
