Title: Glassboard - A Private SNS
Post by: bill on May 17, 2012, 02:44:40 AM
http://glassboard.com/

This one looks interesting for the privacy buff.
QuoteGlassboard has no privacy settings — because everything is private. It's that easy.
QuoteUnlike Google, Facebook, and Twitter, we don't mine your data to sell advertising. We don't do ads.

I'm not sure how they're going to monitize this, but I could see the appeal to many. Not everyone wants Facebook or Google to know everything about them.

This is made by Nick Bradbury, the guy who made my favorite RSS aggregator, FeedDemon.

Facebook currently earns $5 per user per year. I bet a lot of people would pay $5 per year for something better than Facebook.

Which reminds me of something I read recently: "If you're using a free service, you're not the customer, you're the product."

I would, easily.

I've bookmarked Glassboard, I may use it someday.

Just downloaded this.  I like it, very simple and not trying to over complicate things or look too designery like Path does.
