Title: Facebook promoted posts
Post by: Rooftop on June 11, 2012, 02:03:55 PM
I'm seeing this on UK accounts now.

When you post a page status update you can promote it so that more fans see it.  For 5,000 fans the cost is around £20.

ooooo, yes I see it now on one of my pages.

I maybe blind but is the cost based on impressions, clicks, how may likes the page has....?

So far as I understand it, it has *always* been the case that forums offer one of the weakest forms of content for advertisers.

I really don't understand how FB being one of the world's biggest forum makes it especially valuable in marketing terms.

never thought of FB as a forum before.

So company A promoted its posts but still only people who have previously "liked" company A will see it..?   Is that how it's working now or can we promote to people who like other companies pages?

Na, it looks like only to people who have liked the page.
In the help section there is a part talking about how to increase likes to a page

I've had a few calls from clients & contacts about this. Funny, all of them previously thought that when they posted to their wall every one of their fans saw it. So to them this new initiative is facebook starting to charge for what was previously free.

yeah I notice they released it just after they started showing the % of fans who were seeing each post to the admins.  I am intrigued by how the measure people seeing the post, to be honest.
