Hi Ling, great to have you here - thanks for coming over! ;D
We've been having a discussion in the non-public area about your FODM keynote
http://econsultancy.com/uk/blog/10142-ling-valentine-at-fodm-2012-is-there-method-in-the-madness-video
Most of us have been working online for a long time - lots of affiliates, website owners and people who make their living online lurking around here.... so we're obviously all really interested in you site and your business - hence the invitation via twitter - we like to learn from people who do what they do well!
I guess if you're happy to answer them we have loads of questions for you - and obviously we're happy to answer anything you might want to ask us.
First question I guess, from the discussion we've been having, is why haven't you expanded further than you already have? Don't you have plans to dominate the world car lease market, or are you happy with the business you're doing now?
LoL, i'm surprised Ling hasn't found this place earlier! She does get about a bit I must say :)
Welcome Ling, do you come in peace?
We were also interested in your conversion rate and do you think it would be better if you had a straighter image. Do you think your Lingtastic branding brings in more custom than a split tested average ranking site does? I'm interested in the EU and if you think there is 1. a market there and 2. would your branding work in other countries.
Also, what have you got against 4N? :D
...easy, easy.... let's try offering some coffee to our new guests before we attack them:)
YEEAAAHHH!!! Welcome Ling!
Or, should I say:
欢迎!你是我最爱的人!
I really *really* hope Google translate did that right...
And I thought people in China preferred tea, not coffee....We should offer her tea. And maybe one of those tiny little sandwiches you eat with your fingers...
I'm not sure tiny sandwiches are traditionally Chinese :)
I'm just about to embark on a major site reskin, and I saw Ling's site for the first time today. Now I want planets. Big f'n planets. :D
I find that most foreign language sites are navigable, even if you can't read the language. East Asian websites are the exception. They can be so busy they're beyond confusing. This seems to be very much a cultural thing. Ling's taken that style and character, and transposed it to a Western structure. It's still a mad looking site, but very cleverly done.

I hear where your coming from there. Recently I've been looking into the ecig industry and trying to hunt down manufactures in China. It was a common trend for weird layouts, annoying overlays and flashy flashys
Well, hello, everyone.
I was looking for the conversation this thread refers to, but couldn't find it. Still not sure what Th3 Core is about as I had never heard of it, struggling to find anything explaining it. You lot keep this place very discreet :)
I am a bit busy at the moment delivering 10 cars today due to end of month and also due to the weather from hell affecting stuff yesterday, and am driving to Malmesbury this aft, so can't do too much replying immediately.
Bear with me. Busy Busy. :))
Ling
Hello Ling! Good to find you on Twitter and glad I got you pointed here again :)
We're a bunch of internet professionals from all over the World and we have at least one thing in common - making a living with the internet.
I'm sure you'll get a bunch of replies and members wanting to point you in the right direction.
Again, welcome!
Ling, the convo is within the private section where we are a bit more open with our thoughts and opinions. The criteria is here - http://th3core.com/talk/water-coolerextra/inner-core-and-regular-member-clarification/
This is a great forum, it's not super active but there are no idiots and there is almost no touting for business.
And, Miss Ling, the reason this place is discreet is because it is mostly invite only.
Should I call you Ling? Or do you prefer 地球女神 ? That's 'Planet Goddess' for the rest of you...

and this is us trying to be public :D We're not really the type of place people hear about I'm afraid, you just sort of end up here for some reason and if you like it you stay. There is an intro thread here http://th3core.com/talk/water-coolerextra/the-official-introduction-thread/ - you'll see a load of us know each other from various meet ups we arrange now and then.
So we're quite diverse, come from all over, and basically hang out as we have a respect for each others opinion and we like to learn new stuff.
and I think most of the non UK guys are a bit confused by the phenomenon of Lings Cars. Actually a lot of us UK guys are. Opinion is fairly evenly split as to whether you're a genius or a grade 1 nutter :) Perhaps both?

Thinking I might pop up to the Scarborough one. No Offence but I wouldn't even pay £500 to see the Beatles.
Welcome in Ling. I'm thinking that your graphics and web team must have a hell of a lot of fun working on your stuff :)

To be fair it is not £595 **JUST** to see me. You get other various people too.
Scarborough hahahaha, yes, organised by a customer of mine, so I do him a favour

Scarborough, the epicenter of east coast digital development, will host a key event for business and education: Digital Scarborough 2012. (Website is drab, but reflects the weather)
It's an event for the digital and creative development sector, designed to encourage students and businesses to embrace digital technologies and reaffirm Scarborough as a place for digital enterprise. On the other hand, you can go for a cold paddle. 13/14/15th March 2013.
Also speaking are Shazam (Wham cover band?), someone from Twitter, and Andreas Carlson (not the pop star). I have no idea about anybody else.
I will probably be giving keynote address, but will not stay long as I can be back home in 2 hours.
Also have London :)

Online and offline, all joined up. 1,500+ client-side delegates. Infinite ideas... It's all about the big issues in making joined up marketing a reality.
On the other hand, I'll talk about real, sensible stuff.
Book yourself in!
heh, you really do like to sell!
If you don't want images... I am the wrong person to invite here.
I think the web should be ALL images :) etc
Ling
PNG though... I am disappoint. Shouldn't they be GIF?
GIF's are soooooooo 80's
PNG's are the new Gif's nowadays and you can still get the flashy flashy with a PNG (albeit it aPNG) but its better :P http://people.mozilla.com/~dolske/apng/demo.html
