Title: Has Anyone Worked with Streaming Video?
Post by: grnidone on November 28, 2010, 06:05:12 PM
I'm looking to help a church stream their services, and I'm not sure which service is the best...also don't know anything about hardware necessary for web cams and how to plug everything into the sound system.

I'd appreciate input.

Well, I did use Ustream to stream my wedding back in April. http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/6414823 if you want to see the quality. The action starts about 20 minutes in. We just used a pretty simple camcorder up in the balcony and we had the sound plugged into the camera from the soundboard. There are a couple times where you can't use the audio and that is mainly due to the output the sound guy used. Didn't have the CD player going through that output.

But overall the streaming quality was good and it was very easy to set up. Not sure if you are looking for a service like this or something a bit more elaborate.

been 10 yrs so I like Dr cool's input, sounds sane

we used to do streaming on real media boxes for shareholders meetings and stuff, pretty cool stuff, we do a ton where I work now but not in my portion of the company, we also have massive numbers of servers doing it, obvious overkill

A lot of the gamers have been switching over to Justin.tv lately.  One of the reasons cited is that the host picks ad timing on-demand with a simple "/commercial" command.  Quality is good in HD also.  Worth checking out.
