I've learned not to use domain tools hosted on other sites:  I've lost too many cool domains that way.  When I go to buy them, they have been purchased already.

I've always been weary of this, but I've never seen one disappear while I was searching.

Or maybe I've never found anything cool enough for anyone to give a shit. ;)

Domains has always been my achilles heel.

Originally I thought buying paid traffic meant no need for domains.

But doing the math if you got a keyword with 100 typein clicks a day and the clicks would cost you say 50 cents then you'd spend $18250 on clicks.

But hearing Matt Cutts talk at Pubcon he certainly intimated that exact match url's were being looked at with a view to them being less valuable in the future.

And in all honesty, if you can't get keyword.com then having anyoldrandomdomain.com with a ton of inbound links of value will be as good as if not better.

Just my tired 2 cents worth.

That service runs everything through 101domain.com. Are they a decent registrar? I just picked up a few names through them the other day.

They've said this for years.  I'll believe it when I see it.

The problem for Matt (and indeed, any SE engineer) is that the algo is a zero-sum game. If you turn down exact-match domains, something else becomes *more* important by definition, and becomes the new focus for the out-and-out spammers. It's a paradox, his purity of purpose is the very thing that guarantees he cannot succeed.

Try just putting domains into the address bar. It's fairly rare that a domain is registered, but doesn't resolve, most registrars seem to have a habit of slinging unused stuff at Sedo, or other parking services. Hell, some of them do it to bits of domains that *are* in use...

domaintools is the one I use, domains have never been bought that I have generated through this site.
