Interesting.  I use Bing for everything other than looking up phone numbers now.  I started because I was just generally fed up of Google.  Then I just started to like it more.

Fantastic time to do this.
With the release of Window 8 and phone 8, Microsoft are going to be in the limelight for awhile.
I just hope some big publications write up about it and spread the word to the hard to reach people who make up the majority of the searchers.

Blekko has the "three engine monte" thing and I did a bunch of blind searches to test between blekko, bing and google.

For the searches I did, I ended up choosing Google almost every time, Bing once and Blekko not a single time. So though I find some aspects of Google extremely frustrating (see http://th3core.com/talk/traffic/google-search-is-only-18-search/), they still provide me with the best results for actual searches I do.

I will say that I have mostly done the blind testing for "research" searches, not "shopping" searches.

I was all prepared to like Bing, but i scored 4-1 Google. My regular keyword searches place my sites better in Google than Bing as well, so I can understand the bias.

i try to use Bing, but too often get poor results.

I hate to say it, but I TRUST Google to serve me better results than I get from Bing.

:o

Excuse me whilst I wash my mouth out.

Both Bing and Bing-derived DuckDuckGo have much cleaner Serp presentations than Googles.  I use both more than Google for daily searches and I'm generally pleased with the results.  However Bing has a harder time filtering out spun content, so the algo deteriorates for me on high ticket item searches and I start getting more made for Adsense spun blogs with Bing than I do with Google.

Mind you they are still there with Google but more corporate sites appear higher in the Google  SERPS. Still for day to day mobile phone searching I use Bing, DDG app on my iPad, Blekko on my Touchpad.

It's not just high ticket items where Google wins for me. It's actually more in the truly obscure - and I spend a lot of time searching for stuff that's truly obscure - and Bing just doesn't come close.  It's not that Google has better answers. At a certain level of obscurity, Google has answers, Bing doesn't.

And for a lot of stuff I do, Google being able to leverage Books search is huge.
