Have you seen the new Samsung commercial poking at the iphone?

I just got my first Mac product the other day -- an iPad3, we actually won it in a charity raffle. I have to say the quality of the product is nice, and I get why people like them. Still, the nearly religious fan devotion is baffling.
I am a major Linux fan, I love the freedom of open source software, in many ways Mac products seem very closed source and proprietary -- as if every feature is designed to make the customer spend more money. Like for instance there is no USB adapter on the thing!? A $600+ tablet without a USB hookup or standard external storage is ridiculous.
I swear by my iPad 3, never part with it
Not so enthusiastic about iPhones - haven't had a single one yet. Whether it's gonna change any time soon, we'll see
I want to get a tablet. My problem has been that I've always been looking at whats coming over the horizon and I haven't shelled out the cash yet. A smaller iPad might do that ...
iPhone 5? meh. ::)
Try a nice android tablet. Cheap as chips in the UK. £75 and has micro usb storage.

I've find that those 'cheaper' Android tables don't come with the proper Google play/market place and have their own weird market place.
Very frustrating, and not everyone wants to root them with the latest version of cyanogen or flashback just so they can access the proper market place.
Interesting , I bought a cheap one a couple of years ago, and sent it back, it was rubbish.
The £75 one I played with a couple of weeks ago, and was very impressed. Fast fluid, just works.
I understand you have to be careful with the screens, some are plastic, not glass, so wear out quite quickly.
I never got to look at the play store.
Not sure I would be worried about that, as the main purpose for me would be browsing, email and pictures but will have a look, thanks for the tip.
As for the iphone 5. It is my poorest friend who will have one soon. He is a student, family. We often feed them. That baffling.
Sue and I dropped onto a £10 Sim only, as I don't see anything better to replace the android desires we have. Eventually I guess the updates will take away all our memory, so we will be forced to, but meanwhile what is the next big step?
Certainly not Apple maps.
Individuals and computer UI's are the most baffling thing. Some people just seem to understand the UI'S while others seem to only learn by rote and each new app completely baffles them. These are not dummies, it is just that their minds cannot wrap around computers.
Apple has done a good job of simplifying the UI in iOS out of the box so a broad range of people can function with it. Android, not so much although they are getting better. Webos, also had a great UI but they are dead. Still there are people who have a hard time even with an iPhone, but I guess it is good we have choices because I don't want to go back to MSDOS and early Windows days when we had no choices in computers operating systems.
I guess what I'm saying is it isn't always about cost, it is also about how each user is wired and how they understand the device and also just plain old individual preference.
Brad you are dead right.
I have been discovering it is the same with websites it seems, different people seem to want t use them in different ways.
Lesson 1 for me recently has been don't try to please everyone. :)
