Can anyone recommend a good book on how to manage people effectively that they've read?
Cheers,
Ed
I have read plenty ( 5 minute manager probably being the best), but frankly there is nothing like jumping in because you just never know what will be coming your way.
What are you up to?
Edit: It was 'The One Minute Manager'......I just take four minutes longer.....
+1 for the 1 minute manager. First mgt book I remember reading and certainly one of the few that I remember the details of. Most mgt books make me want to puke.
The one thing my business professor said was the best rule for dealing with people was MBWA. "Management By Walking Around." When people are used to seeing you around and just shooting the shit with people, they are more likely to talk to you and let you know what is going on. They won't feel so much pressure that "the boss" is checking up on them, and you'll be more in the know if they are having trouble getting anything done.
Oh, and 5 Minute manager.
This video gives you 80% of what you would get from Marshall's book. I love this guy
