Title: Twitter and FB location Tech will increase your insurance premium
Post by: ukgimp on November 30, 2010, 05:48:33 PM
Picture this, you are out and about and you checkin somewhere, someone following you now knows you are out and robs your gaff.

A mate told me that this sort of thing will soon impact your insurance.

Not sure if this is old news, but intersting none the less.

Agree. Particularly since it will be true in a few years.

I have a liability umbrella policy and live along the waterfront.  With 'waterfront' as a qualifier,  I'm already having to fill out surveys that want to know about boats, jet-skis, etc.  One incorrect answer and the insurance company has grounds to avoid pay-outs.  This year, I rec'd a call from the local agency ...it seems the underwriters were reviewing pictures of the property and wanted the hot tub to have a cover.  So oversight is already here.  This just gives them ways to prove that you are more at risk than you said you'd be.
