Read that these guys are finally coming out of private testing here in the UK and will be going main stream any time now.
Being the man I am, I'm getting very excited about this. Like when I was a young boy at xmas!
Have any of you US'ers seen or used this or other any other systems such as square or paypal offering?
While my mind is racing with the possibilities, as izettle is the only one that uses the chip and pin system used in the UK, I can't help feel how customers would feel about being handed over a mobile phone to type in there pin and pay by card.
A friend of mine uses Square, I think, for a small mobile business he runs. I've not heard of any problems.
I was on the iZettle trial in the UK and rate it VERY highly for MC and Amex. (who are both investors in the service)
I rate it MUCH lower for Visa as Visa blocked it's use in the UK/EU (Visa are not investors in iZettle but are investors in Square) although this has now been partially resolved albeit in a less than perfect way compared to the MC use.
All in all, it's the best of this style of tool available in the UK IMO
Interesting, cheers Brad & Jason. Another use for the multi purpose mobile phone.
From a consumer point of view I guess that handing over a mobile phone and asking the customer to enter in their pin number will raise of few eyebrows and might hamper closing the deal, as opposed to something like this that uses a device everyone is familiar with - http://www.chipandpinsolutions.com/pages/services/mobile-payment-solutions
Time will tell I suppose
Got my iZettl;ee reader today, so thought I'd come back to this thread. I got the non iphone reader for £20 including £20 transaction fee credit. Very reasonable for a little play about.
Not really impressed so far. Over a minute to process a transaction on wifi then it declined a £1 against my work account! I haven't checked our balance, but it it is anything even close to £1 I have big problems!
Appreciate it Rooftop. I swear I signed up to be notified once they were live fully. Must of gone into my spam folder.
That's a little worrying that it takes so long on wifi
Must be teething problems. Well one would hope.
Yep they are live one of my friends has signed up so I will let you know what she thinks of it after she has given it a go

Now I'm gonna have to look through the rest of Huddlebuy. Dam you again :P
Forget it - misunderstood the question. No cell phone access at our place of business, so...
>No cell phone access

That's me. Our backyard neighbor moved in in 1980 and they didn't get phone service here until 1993. So he raised two kids without phones.
Being in a cell-phone backwater, I thought the OP was actually asking about credit card processing for phone orders not using your phone as a credit card machine. Sorry for the noise in the thread.
Jealous!
Oh and I am the OP, no worries :)
I reckon I'm gonna have to get one soon.
The new bizz will involve me being out and about and it would be well suited for the job at hand. 3G permitting of course :/
But I still can't get my round handing my phone over.
Me, because some sod could run off with it.
Them, because it's unfamiliar and will need reassuring....
I suppose it was only a matter of time before paypal joined the party - https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/credit-card-reader
