What ver of android are you running? Jelly Bean mod is apparently very close to being stable enough to consider.

ICS, last time I looked JB wasn't being worked on any longer?

What are the benefits?

Apps will up their game. I saw it between Samsung S1 & S3. Figured I go highest version if I'm going to play with this.  That said, there are some time-sucking problems with the current beta of JB that require workarounds, so I'm going to use that excuse to procrastinate a couple more weeks/months/years.

Really? No probs here, last one I installed took 15 mins.

Yeah, but yours is ICS, right?  That's considered to be stable. The JB beta, last I read, can brick the phone if you let the battery run out.  They have a utility to remind you before that happens, but screw that.

ooops yeah, didn't notice jb, my bad.

ICS works fine, but I don't really do anything but browse anyway.

Can you install apps directly from the Play app store?

Yes. And they can auto update themselves if you let them. Not sure if that is good or bad, but I mainly let the apps from trusted sources auto update so they don't pester me.

OK, good. There are some automotive-related apps that would be great on a cheap tablet.

I'd let them auto-update, too.
