1. Back when I started Twitter I used to try and eliminate spam followers. Eventually I gave this up as a waste of time and let following Me! turn into a free for all of sharp elbows, head butts and Stooge slaps.
2. Lately I have been thinking about purging followers again, and maybe doing a hand edit of people I'm following since that is getting overwhelming too.
3. Is there a good automated way of purging bad followers?
4. Is this a good idea?
How would purging followers improve your Twitter experience? I don't worry about that ... am I missing something?
I do occasionally trim the list of people I'm following depending on the quality/quantity of what they post. I don't know any shortcuts for that, though.
I played with ManageFlitter for a bit, but that maintenance in itself is a bit of a time-suck.
Are you auto-following everyone who follows you? Otherwise I wouldn't see the point in this exercise.
I don't see the point either. But every once in awhile some self proclaimed - expert - will state one should control who follows you and clean out spam, so I thought I would ask.
I suppose it might effect your reputation if you only had robot followers, but I have a few real people so I don't think that matters.
To me it's more important who you follow, I didn't want to be in a bad neighborhood so I dropped C*tts. ;) Actually I don't know of any effect based on who you follow, just that you can gain a knowledge of what topics someone is interested in.
