Title: Does anyone use Yodlee
Post by: Chunkford on February 07, 2013, 09:55:17 AM
Now I'm all for saving time and integrating anything and everything but I think I've met my limit.

Just had an email from the accounts program I use (Freeagent) who say they can now automatically import my bank statements, great! I thought.

But when looking through the email they use a company called Yodlee, ummmmm ok a 3rd party, to obtain the statements.
It looks like I enter all my bank details, passwords, code etc on their 'secure' servers for them to use.
This makes me twitch knowing that my details to my bank account (my financial world) are in someone else's hands.

I have heard of them so it's not new but never really looked into it until now.
Has anyone used these guys or know of them?

Mint is huge - I think they say something like they have "read-only" access. I don't remember the details, but if your count gets hacked, nobody can *do* anything. What I don't know is if an employee at Mint with gambling debts can accidentally peek at the secret user details.

In any case, the banks haven't shut them down. Quite the contrary, they've cut all sorts of affiliate deals with them. How safe it is, I can't say.

ummm interesting, cheers ergophobe

read-only would be better but I'm still not sure about it. I think I will see how it plays out.
