A couple of domains I have had my eye on look like they might be coming available soon. Does anyone have a veiw on the best service to catch .co.uk names?
Unfortunately there isn't one stand out service as far as .co.uk drop catching is concerned these days. The scene is pretty fragmented with domain drops being distributed amongst a selection of public facing catching services and an ever growing list of private catchers.
In terms of a public catcher domainmonster.com have caught domains for me in the past that weren't especially high profile. If the domains you have your eye on are due to drop soon and they have obvious worth, you could be up against tens and tens of private catchers that have already identified it.
If you really really want the domains the best way is to try to spread your chances around as many catchers as you can. Some will offer a free order with payment only due on successful registration. Some decent dropcatchers for .co.uk domains -
domainmonster.com
caught.co.uk
domainjunky.co.uk
dropcatcher.co.uk
dbcatch.co.uk
domainwatchlist.co.uk
domainview.co.uk
dropsystem.co.uk
Or you could hunt out some private dropcatchers on the acorndomains.co.uk forum who may have available catching slots for the day your domain will drop.
cheers Keano. Great answer. Nothing particularly high profile, so I'll spread it around a few of those. If any of them suggest other people are already watching the domains I might get a bit more aggressive with it.
Good luck with it RT.
Not sure if they already dropped, but what I do for .com/.net/.org
I toss them into my account at namejet/pool/snapnames
The majority of the expired domains I have been getting come from namejet followed by snapnames.
No cost on any of those unless they catch it. Starts at 69$ and ends with the highest bid price if there and numerous bidders.
Here's another list of even more catchers - http://domainoptions.co.uk/guide-to-drop-catching-uk-domain-names-part-2/
Spread your bets..... :)
Wish I never started looking now, buying domain names is so addictive, for me anyway.
I know someone (on this forum) who's used the snatcher script - http://www.snatcher.org/ (not sure if that's the official site) - said it was pretty cool.
And I find this site pretty good - http://www.expireddomains.net/
plus this site to find the exact dates - http://www.dropdates.co.uk/
Anyway I'm babbling... have fun
