I know that some affiliates promote Payday Loans.
Google "payday loans" and see the sick CRAP in the SERPS :'(
Yup, the kind of crap that takes exactly a day to rank
Payday loans places just make me sad all the way around. I know there are people out there who take advantage of the desperate, but I just ... hate it.
Yeah, hate the product, but am amazed that they're able to rank that crap in a day.

Payday loans are somewhat predatory, but they exsist because there is a need for them. If they were outlawed some of their customers would be forced to turn to loansharks.

Must take a huge effort. I guess there is some serious money to be made.
I've been gathering some aggregated backlink anchors for expired domains, and pharma, porn and payday loans all constantly come up due to the domains being hacked or abused & re-expired. Must be worth a heck of a lot just to rank for one day at #1.
It must be pretty handy for google to see what people are up to nowadays to get ranked too.
Dunno about porn but in pharma, gambling and I suspect in payday loans you put a cookie on the visitor's site that lasts anywhere from 15 to 60 days and there are return customers/revshare so indeed ranking for just one day is already worth it. Also, do not forget that by the time a domain that's been ranking for x days gets dropped majority of those industries players will have the ext one(s) ready to rank so we're not really talking about ranking for one day here.
@Littleman: Seriously, what is the difference between a loan shark and a pay day loan lender? I just don't see it..
The loanshark will come and break your legs if you don't pay, the payday loan guys will just ruin your credit.

And in today's society you could argue which of the two causes the most damage.

I think IrishWonder makes a great point, a one day rank can be spread over weeks and months.
Been to a few Google "conferences" in the past few months, big thrust is "moments that matter".
In the Internet world setting a 60 day cookie is without a doubt a moment that matters.
That and having a constant flow of sites to replace each other on page 1...
Right now all the high profit niches are spammed to death as that is what is ranking. Many people are doing the churn and burn to the tune of a few thousand per day per site. Takes what, $10 for a domain and a host, then pay someone to spam, rank, bank, churn, burn, wash, rinse, repeat................ Wham bam thank you mam.
