Title: Flickr now offering 1TB space free

Well, I guess Melissa is doing a better job than I thought.  :P

1TB for free would make this a decent photo archive.

I'm wondering if they might be planning to go after YouTube and host more video content?

Yeah, 1TB sure is a lot of photos.  I thought of video hosting right away too.

Hmm... I thought "great press release without actually costing anything". Since 99% of users will never upload a TB of data and, I'm guessing, 99% of users don't exceed the current allocation, you can raise the limit to 1TB, put out a press release, and change practically nothing at all in your service and cost.

Yeah, that's a good point, sort of like "unlimited" hosting.

I just got a email from Yahoo extolling the virtues of the new Flickr and they are playing up that 1TB of space big time.

Also there is a rumor that both Vimeo and Flickr will be integrated into iOS 7 the same way Twitter and Facebook are now.  If  true, Flickr will need to have more space and more robust hosting to handle all that traffic.  Vimeo integration is a slap at Google and YouTube.
