a client who has a large and somewhat unwealdy portfolio of sites on the same theme is reorganising them.
they supply a specific product to a very large UK highstreet name, who currently lists their products as a folder on the big brand website eg; www.bigbrand.com/clientsproducts
I have been told that there's an agreement been made that this folder be 302 redirected to one of my clients less worked on sites which currently has content and ranks reasonably well (low page 1 for most money terms, high page 1 for a couple). Commissions will be paid etc etc. Commercial sorted.
I toyed with the idea that I could demand a 301 for the redirect but am 99% sure it won't happen (bigbrand.com uses 302's exclusively for whatever reason they may have).
Question; do I want a 302 under these terms? I think in theory the 302 hijacking still happens even if I haven't seen many write ups recently? The initial boost would be nice of course but I can rank well enough without it if I hussle. If I'm going to get long term problems when the 302 gets removed, I'd rather not have it!
What do you reckon?
