My best friend from BU and High School came up with this...
https://reactor.hiscoxusa.com/ = mind blowing use of data
snip
Did anyone actually do this?!!?! You bums. It's the most novel use of social data I've seen... login with your profile and watch the video!
It's the first time since I first saw Flash in the 90s that I was like 'wow, I didnt know that was possible'.
Nice link bait!
Let me give you a big hint: the impressive thing is not what I posted.
Just use the app and then you can tell me I'm right after you are done that its not mind-blowing, but you'll have to give it to me that you've never seen social data used like this before.
There, I deleted the output.... now use your own login and watch what happens.
I think that LinkedIn must have better data on you than it does on me. I could see what they were trying to do. But it fell WAY short of the mark for me - very generic.
There was a really good Facebook integration along similar lines a year or so ago. The theme was a stalker following you. That was far more effective for me, but then I use Facebook for family stuff so the story and data were better suited.
There are several versions/endings, depending on your industry. Data was seamlessly injected essentially throughout my entire video... graduating from college, different positions I held, pictures of colleagues, my industry, phone number... I'm not sure if that was done using AfterEffects or not, but it's definitely the first time I've seen video, personalized anywhere close to that level.
>There was a really good Facebook integration
Never saw it. In the future, I encourage everyone try to post examples of bleeding edge marketing technology like that in here, in the Marketing forum - at least every once in a while - if for no other reason than to add a little sprig of garnish to our Water Cooler posts, which outnumbers Marketing posts by more than 10 to 1:)
I just get a little thing in the middle of the screen that rotates between various icons - camera, breifcase, house, compass, chart
I assume something else is supposed to happen, but isn't.
I wouldn't have thought after effects would be the. Tool for the job. Flash pulling remote assets is the easy way.
I'll find the FB one.
Not tried this one yet, but it sounds similar http://mashable.com/2011/06/09/true-blood-facebook/
Here is the one I was thinking of http://www.takethislollipop.com.
DB, can you please show what happens? My linkedin account is screwed up.
