google is now evil in the 18-24 demographic. took them long enough.
just one of many threads in the top 5 pages over the last 2 days

lol, nice comment from one of the original creators of youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/jawed
"why the fuck do i need a google+ account to comment on a video?"
>comment from one of the original creators of youtube
Yeah, that flashed across pretty much all of my aggregator sites yesterday evening. I think it made 2nd page (unfiltered, no login) of reddit about then, too. Though I sort of agree with the need to detox youtube comments somehow, this is getting BIG eyeball numbers and negative PR for the Big G.
Yeah, the cesspool of regular yt commets is pretty dark and deep.

Seriously, onthe few occassions I find myself following a link to youtube, I never scroll down Complete waste of energy. It's where banned 4chan-ers go to vent, apparently.
Heard this morning on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me
"Google is becoming some sort of Bond villain"
"If you Google for Google Barge you are never seen again"
"And the answer was right there on Bing all along"
"Google this week changed their motto from 'Don't be evil' to 'What is evil anyway?'"
etc
#2 thread on reddit now
If you want to complain to Google directly about the forced merger of YouTube and Google+, this is the link to the discussion forum in Google Products.

Not sure why it is the you tubers complaining. I think that plus sees are getting the crappy end of the stick by being flooded with thousands of tube trolls.
>plus sees are getting the crappy end of the stick
Good point, but I think this is a drive for eyeballs to add massive amounts of tracking data to G's commercial surveillance database.
I think that a big part of it is about cleaning up the ad network. There have been a lot of activity on the adsense side of things blocking sites that are not "brand friendly" and sticking to the terms. YouTube was really starting to look like the dirtiest part of the network (well... the most obvious dirty part).
I think that they are getting ready to make a big push for brand advertising. New doubleclick products in development, staff moving across to doubleclick, rolling out the partner programme (which effectively lets them scale account management for free), before that closure of adsense for feeds and domains. Video is a big draw to brand advertisers (and an easier sell in some cases). But what brand whats to appear on your typical page of youtube comments
Rooftop, that makes the most sense of anything I've heard about this! :)
there appears to be a substantial G+ revolt brewing this morning, at least on my reading list (which is fairly diverse). #1 on raw reddit is (now down due to reddit effect)
Backlash against Google Plus is now too big to ignore
http://www.zdnet.com/forced-google-plus-integration-on-youtube-backfires-petition-hits-112000-7000023196/
Several other related headlines elsewhere. HackerNews has 3 negative Google articles in the top 10.
I love a good revolt.
reddit's getting a clue. today's raw fr page:
Google to pay $17Mil For Altering Its Cookies to Circumvent User Preferences Blocking 3rd Party Ad Tracking Cookies.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/11/18/us-google-settle-idUSBRE9AH0Z920131118
add this one to the "revolt":

So, how many weeks before the YT commenters completely forget this slight and start up their bogus G+ accounts?
