Title: Site wide links.
Post by: gm66 on February 22, 2014, 11:42:48 PM
One of my clients lets me use their site to experiment with linking.

A week ago i put a followable link in the global footer so i have a hundred and something links from this single site, all dofollows.

The site i pointed the links to is now ranking tenth for the keyword in the anchor text, it's been rising fast all week.

Will this be short-lived, do you think ? Or would G understand that a link from a client is a kind of approval and not a paid-for link ?

Cheers,

Gary.

a) nearly all links still 'work' despite Googles FUD
b) nearly all links can look dodgy to google for algo or hand job reasons at any random point in time
c) paid for is not the same as "link google doesn't like"
d) problems can hit sites providing the links as well as sites receiving the links

Thanks Gurtie, there are so many conflicting opinions online so i thought it best to just do it and see.

Cheers,

Gary.

Excellent advice from Gurtie.

(Thanks for the reminder to keep my feet on the ground)
