Title: Moving and upgrading the Core
Post by: littleman on March 29, 2014, 10:42:07 PM
In the next few weeks I'll be moving the Core to a new hosting company and upgrading the forum to SM 2.x.  I figure it makes sense to do the move and the upgrade at the same time.  JaguarPC has just been dreadful, I really want to choose a reliable host for the move.  Drastic recommended Stablehost, Fluidhosting, or Hawkhost as options.  Anybody else have experience with these companies?

I don't know them. I've used Webfaction.com for two clients recently and they are my current choice for budget shared hosting.

Fast servers, no CPanel (part of why they're fast I think), git and ssh standard (though with recent CPanel updates, git is standard many places now).

BTW, I was once a fan of JagPC but, yes, they have been awful for at least the last 3-4 years.

Good move LM! And thanks for dealing with it! Let us know if we can do anything?

Webfaction was terrible for me.

When moved off and canceled they said they could have fixed it by moving me to another server, but everything was so bad I was done.
