The Apprentice (UK) TV show had a recent episode where the teams had to create a product using wearable tech. It's fair to say both products weren't that good.
With all the people that run for charity, it'd be great if they powered some computation while running, like folding@home and the like. Pick your charity and do the math work for them.
The efficiencies of the power source maybe has a way to go...

For sure. Data acquisition is probably one of the main driving factors of building these things... as the products seem more of a novelty ATM to the end user.
$500 for a fancy watch. I had a nice casio that costs $2 as a kid.
(and someone out there really wants to bring watches back into fashion)

$14 now for a waterproof one that can stand boating or swimming. Lasts me about 3 years --2 if I'm doing serious work or play in the river. No tracking (AFAIK).
