I've got the Linux version installed on Mint and so far I like it. I really like the way it does tabs. Still missing a lot of features but they are in the works. Seems very stable so far.
I'm a bit disappointed. I was going to try it out on my Debain box, but it is a i386 system and they only have amd64 compatibility.
I'm testing it out as my default Forum browser. Not bad. Still missing the Opera 12.x right-click to add notes, but other than that I can live with it.
Its using Chromium for the rendering engine.
It will be interesting to see the phone and tablet versions when they come out.
Nice, for now they have included the major search engines plus DDG and Startpage for more privacy.
I downloaded it and ran it for about a day and nothing jumps out to me as bad. However, it doesn't seem any better than Chrome / Chromium so don't (yet) see the point.

You can stack tabs. If you normally work with lots of pages open that can be handy.
Much is philosophy: do you start with a full featured browser without using extensions, or do you go bare bones and rely on third party extensions to complete the kit.
I think there is a niche for the former.

Lots of small improvements made already. I'm using this daily, and it's pretty good so far.

They say they have had 400K downloads in the first week. Not too shabby for a simple Preview. That is just the old school Opera 12 users.
I too am using this daily. I have to admit I am liking the Chromium rendering engine being used in Vivaldi better than the old Presto engine used in Opera 12.

That is a good, fair review. I do like it, bugs and all. I was lost, lost I tell you, when the Suits took over Opera and started gutting Opera down to a dumb clone of Chrome. Actually they made the right choice going with Chromium as a rendering engine so that it is compatible with anything.
Vivaldi has their work cut out for them, 1. getting the desktop version out of beta, 2. coming up with iOS and Android versions 3. figuring out how to pay for it.
I'm setting aside Vivaldi on OS X for awhile. Unfortunately Vivaldi is having trouble displaying things like my DM's in Twitter. In the mean time I'm going to explore Safari and the extensions and see how long I can use it. I'll be back to Vivaldi, but the browser is really still in early beta and needs more time to cook.

Man, is Safari bad or what? Lots of lag and pauses before it executes a command. Just saying.
I'm on an Alpha build now. They are really catching a lot of the small issues I had. I've ditched Opera 12.x for Vivaldi now. I think they've made it good enough to be a daily use browser for me (not my primary browser).
Next in line is a bit better support for extensions and I could make this my main browser.
I'm back to using the newest tech preview of Vivaldi for OS X. Safari didn't last long.
Yeah, having support for Extensions would be nice. I guess that is coming soon. They are working on it very steadily.
