Having been forced to roll my own reader and curate it, I understand the need that they're trying to reach. But something about this smacks of a venture capitalist trying to catch up. Or maybe the devs are just really good at elevator pitches?
After a very narrow and preliminary test, I'm not impressed. I've done much better finding blog articles on fountain pens with DuckDuckGo and for followup adding the blog to Feedly. However, I can see the need as there might brilliant but obscure blogs on some topic that don't make it into the top 3 pages of Google or any search engine.
Other than that, the interface is sort of magazine like, similar to ZIte, Flipboard or even News Republic. One nice thing is the web interface which means you are not limited to apps for access. Still I suspect this is better for broader and more popular topics like Taylor Swift, Food, Hockey than fountain pens and search engines.
They must have some sort of automated back end to help weed out dead wood which is always the bane of directories.
It is supposed to make recommendations based on your current interests. I'm not sure how sophisticated that is. To me nobody has come close to Zite for dredging up new articles from different sources that the others overlook.
