Anyone using groupon ads to monetize?

We run a lot of Groupon offers, but honestly I don't know much about it. We just have someone who puts together deals with a Groupon rep.

They have an API and I saw a WordPress plugin and was just wondering how they convert and pay before I got too far into messing with them. I guess I'll see...

I've never been a publisher with them, but they negotiate hard and keep all possible advantages for themselves from the retailer viewpoint - which is fair enough I guess, just be aware that they probably won't do you any favours!

As a merchant, if you do enough volume they will negotiate a fair bit, but they are tough. We were recently named one of their top offer partners and we basically said we would go elsewhere if they wouldn't lower their commissions. They said no. We said, OK, bye. They said "well, maybe there's some wiggle room".

Part of the problem from a merchant perspective is not so much their commission as the fact that to get them to promote you, you need to offer a huge discount and then a commission that's generally already higher than other partners comes out of what's left.

So as a publisher, your cut needs to come out of that cut.
