>in a blockade of Charleston, Blackbeard's primary demand was for a medicine chest
Charleston, SC withstood two naval blockades/bombardments --Revolutionary War & Civil War. The Civil War one (the aftermath has photo documentation. See Library of Congress site), by today's scale, would have been ranked as a near-war-criminal. It went on for years, and there were hardly two bricks left standing. They city only capitulated when news came that Sherman had turned his march to the sea toward Charleston after flattening Georgia, so the reality is the city didn't fall to the naval bombardment alone. So, given Charleston's proven resolve, you have to give BB his due. (It's pretty well documented that his crew were sick with STDs and his blockade of Charleston was a desperation move.)

Thanks RC. I KNOW you know your Blackbeard story. Infinte coastal knowledge.
Well, I didn't know he was into anal, hhh.
This is one of the main streets we toured (near where Mackin car-jacked that gal).

Charleston reminds me of Munich, DE --it just looks old. It was destroyed and rebuilt.
You guys watching the Black Sails series?
rc, according to mark, one day our country will be old enough to have had cities destroyed/rebuilt and become old again.
Nice pics. I remember Mackin jacking that car. Epic.

Dunno what it is, but I just love Charleston. The history, the civil war, the heat, the humidity, the people, the food. Just love being there. In fact it's one of the places I'd retire if I had the money.

Jestine's was featured on one of the food/travel tv shows. My daughter says there is always a queue now, even before it opens. Too bad, Jestine's is my favorite haunt while there. The good news is that Cosmic Jack's hotdog stand still has room (though crowded).
Hmm. I find a dead link for the Blackbeard story...
