Actually, we do know the cause - stress! The poor girls are being assaulted from all angles - pesticides, monocultures, transportation, poor food sources, diseases, "medicines" to treat said diseases, the list goes on. A colleague here in Aus, who knows more about bees and beekeeping than anyone could imagine, has just written a new book on the subject. I was chatting with him the other day and he mentioned that he tried writing a chapter on the future of beekeeping many times but each time he gave up. "Woz, every time I looked into the problems bees are being faced with, I ended up with Conventional Agriculture as the cause."
