Ok, got off my a## last night and did some work.
A long 10+ km walk and a ride on my Me-mover for 30 mins (which is basically a stepper on wheels) burning 40% more calories than running.
Love this little gem: http://me-mover.com/

Will do some body weight exercises every day this week - push-ups, pull-ups, curls and some TRX. Planning on get back into the gym next week.

week one - 4/4

I missed the gym on Saturday.  So, I went to the soccer (football) field across the street from where I live to do some sprints.  Wow, are my legs sore today!  I usually do four or five different exercises for my legs, but I guess sprinting hits these leg and glute muscles in a completely different way.

Ok so first week, and a tri in 2 weeks.

Short Run... knee aches.  its getting better.
cycled to sailing and back. Only 12 miles but something.
Game of Raquetball.

Dad passed away a week ago, so another little barrier to exercise in the way, but keeping going just. I will be getting mum going with tennis soon, she will need the distraction.

Wow, way to hang in there Rupert, keep it up.

Glad you are back with us, both you and Raz!

Last week was planned low & slow, just 2x vball matches.

This week, trying to hit it hard, gym already this morning. My goal this week is 5 gym days plus vball.

>sprints

Try hill sprints. Find a good slope, 40 to 50m, sprint it 100% up and crucially jog don't walk back down, then go again.

Nothing will ever beat the feeling of not having to do another one. When I was boxing I used to do the hill's 2-3 times a week, used to have a little cry when it was hill day, but the 10 mins after are as good as life gets.

Week 1 - 3/4

Did some long +10km walks on the beach. Pretty good exercise walking in the loose sand.
Did 100 push-ups, bw squats and TRX rows + some dumbbell curls and band tricep pushdowns.

Feeling pretty good and will start the gym again tonight.

Sorry to hear about your dad Rupert. Condolences.

Nice job getting back in the swing of it Rumbas!

NFFC, I think I'd have t build up to hill sprints -- I'm sure they'd completely kick my ass. There is a good place for me to do them near by.

Week 2 - 4/4

I had a cheat meal last Tuesday, Indian Buffet -- completely worth it.  I've been thinking about that meal for at least four months.

Post by: Drastic on June 22, 2015, 09:53:53 PM
hmmm...I guess I have cheat meals every week. Must be why I have so much trouble getting to/staying at my target weight. lol

5/5 here, though not as much as I wanted.

3xgym
2xvball

Playing vball in 90 degree (F) weather knocks the wind out of my sails for the next morning's workout.

Week 2 - 3/4

Did a lot of walking, some cardio and went to the gym 2 times.

>cheat meal
I'm doing too many on a regular basis, but not really going on a binge.

Seems like a lot to me!

Rumbas, that's pretty good considering that you are injured and trying to get back onto the swing of it.

Well I wanted to get back to the gym x5 and let vball be supplemental. It's just when I start playing vball in the sun at 90 degrees and heat index is topping or pushing 100, the next morning I am toast.

So, last week 3xvball 2xgym, so still hitting 5/5, and that's not counting the helping the guys move the cowork on Saturday.

Week 3 - 3/4

All gym sessions and cardio. Slowly moving back into training, but taking on a day by day basis as some days are just painful.

Last week of regular season play is next week though. After playoffs, back in the gym.

OK I am back.

Week 2 I did the tri.
so 3/4  ;)  It was a sprint.  My mate did the Super spint, and as the only over 50 taking part, came first in his category :)  It was special. We got the prize for best supporters.

week 3-- a couple of short runs so 2/4

week 4-- 5/4.  3 runs and a good sea swim. Oh and a couple of miles kayaking, lots of walks and playing on my new boat.
We have a spot on a small Island called Anglesey we got to, and its 3 miles running round the headland. I stop half way to watch the porpoises feeding.

Welcome back Rupert!

Week 4 - 4/4

We got a family membership at the Y and I'm bringing my daughters in to do a little weight training. I also did a bit of skateboarding with the kids over the weekend, lots of fun but just moderate exercise.

Ah the boat.
bought at Christmas.  Engine separate.

Put the two together. it went like a rocket, and then I discovered the floor was knackered.

so I have replaced the stringers and the floor. She is a 1972 fletcher arrow (17 foot), with 135 HP mariner 2 stroke.

I have a 19" prop on her at the mo, and get 50mph. What will she do with a 21" prop :) ???

I haven't been reporting regularly but as of this morning's scales I'm one pound away from the goal that I had hoped to achieve by the end of March.

Slow progress is still progress, I guess! :)

Progress is progress! And it gets more and more difficult I find. Reading this thread tells me I am not alone...

Weights with daughters.. now that's an idea.

Quotegym and vball just isn't working out.
Is that just too much work?

Quotetinkering
.. yes, well, it got to be a bit more than I planned.

>Is that just too much work?
It's fine indoor or spring/fall outdoor. But when the heat index is pushing 100, and play in direct sun for 1 hour+, the next morning a gym visit is too tall an order. I can do it here and there, but 2-3 days a week, week after week is too much.

>yes, well, it got to be a bit more than I planned.
With boats, it always does yeah?

Week 7 - 4/4

I'm in pursuit of a little more size and strength right now and am doing a very light bulk in an attempt to add more muscle.  It is psychologically hard though after spending so many years working on losing weight.  I think I'll let myself creep up to 185lbs. and then go on a cut.

Last week, 1/5. No gym, 1 vball. Been a tough year for consistency for me.

Trying for 5/5 this week, hit gym yesterday and planning vball tonight.

Well, gang ... smile with me.

After many small ups and downs in recent weeks, the scales this morning finally reached the milestone of 80 pounds gone.

It's not time for "after" pictures yet but here's a "before", taken at a PubCon in Austin:

Buckworks, Congratulations!  I've learned that there is no true "after" when it comes to this sort of thing it is more of a snapshot of your body in a state of transition if you will, but 80 pounds off is really a great accomplishment and you should be very proud.

As predicted I only did 2/4 of my workouts this week, I also had some food indulgence over the weekend and will have to be extra strict to make up for it this week.

Who is up for another round?

I'm in for four a week, like usual.

I am not sure if everybody is board with my fitness journey at this point, but I am working on a very shallow bulk right now.  I'm allowing my weight to climb upward in an attempt to add more muscle.  It is psychologically difficult to do it after dropping 100 pounds.  I'll level off at about 185, then start a gradual cut and hopefully hang on to some of the gains.  I am at 182 as of this morning.

I'm eating sensibly, still the same basic, low carb (just above keto) diet, but the volume is up a little.  My intensity is up at the gym.

@RC  -- come on, show us a pic!
