I'm pretty sure that any sane person would know that no one could possibly win a modern global war. I think the challenge in the next 100 years is to keep a nihilist from being able to pull the trigger.

I've mentioned this before here, but there were books around 1910 arguing that major wars had become impossible among European. The argument basically went that modern weapons were too destructive, modern economies too linked and the heads of state of the principal nations of Europe were mostly cousins who certainly wouldn't wage war on family. Turns out, none of those were sufficient to stop WWI.
It's not so much stopping nihilists as preventing minor situations from spinnning out of control
