Title: How iOS9 will further eat into Google's search revenue

Two things: 1. Ad blocking, 2. New Spotlight Search which will now search in-app content both on your device and in the Cloud.

Also, unresolved, Apple's contract with Google for default search provider is still up for renewal this year.  Things have gone awfully quiet since spring so something is up.

Ideally they come out with their own engine.  If they do, and then Yahoo develops their own again we'll have ourselves a four way horse race.  That would be really great, especially if Apple could make some inroads into Google's percentage we could have some balance again.

going to be really interesting seeing how the iOS 9 search shapes up.  This is a long and detailed read focussed on IOS app indexing but giving some hints into the iOS search potential

You can easily imagine the Apple incentive here in owning the iOS search experience.

Littleman, it seems to be working that way.  I think developing their own mobile SE is Apple's goal, although they might farm out the web backfill to a third party for a couple more years. Yahoo seems to be building their own mobile SE also.  So in the mobile space that gives us 3 - 4 engines.  To me that is very good news.

Adam C: great article. That really helped get a grasp on what Apple is doing. Thanks.

It seems to me that in mobile phones in particular, Apple will have an advantage.  My unscientific observation has been that iPhone users tend to use their phone much more than Android users and are less worried about spending some money.
