Title: Cheap storage anyone?
Post by: Rupert on November 24, 2015, 02:22:51 PM
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256GB-MICRO-SD-CARD-WITH-ADAPTOR-CASE-TF-FLASH-MEMORY-SDHC-MOBILE-PHONE-CAMERA-/111825448226?hash=item1a0950ed22:g:RqgAAOSwlV9WSfJB

Yes £4.99 delivered for 256gb.

Seems to take too long to save images to it on a camera.

Not confirmed it really is 250gb.

They'll be 8GB cards with 256GB partitions due to hacked firmware on the card.

It pretty much says as much in the description for the auction

Are people actually getting 256gb of storage out of these things with the hack?  Seems odd that they would put in all that capability to just go to waste in a card sold as 8gb.

Well the computer says it has 256gb or there abouts.
Loading a pile of files on it this am to see what goes on.

time remaining for 160gb... more than 1 day.

Transfer speed 160 kb/s

Useless to me.
Is there that storage do you think Jason?  Life is too short to test it.

It keeps giving errors to.

I think it's fake.

Use H2TestW to test it.

Just keeps crashing.

Error writing file 'G:\1.h2w', offset 0x0.
It is still possible to verify the test data written up to this point.
(The device is not ready. Code 21)
Warning: Only 255961 of 255963 MByte tested.
Writing speed: 0.00 KByte/s
H2testw v1.4

Oh well, found out.

No. It is an 8GB card with hacked firmware that makes it report as 256GB, but doesn't actually give more than the 8GB it has.
