found this:
https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/sustainability/

QuoteThe energy generated by Amazon Wind Farm US Central, Amazon Wind Farm US East, Amazon Solar Farm US East and Amazon Wind Farm Fowler Ridge will be responsible for delivering more than 1.6 million MWh of additional renewable energy into the electric grids that supply current and future AWS Cloud data centers.

does not answer the question of course.

I read recently of someone's idea to use distributed computing as a heating system. Basically buildings would be heated up by the heat generated from computation, seemed like a smart idea, making use of all that energy/heat output.

Doesn't answer the question either though.

Yeah.

Here in the US -or at least around me, Amazon has all but consumed retail Christmas shopping.  All that is left for others is the crumbs. I wonder what it takes to power it as we approach the deadline?

Reminds me of the old Sears vs. Kmart wars, then later, Kmart vs. Walmart.

A tiny percentage of the MWH spent on consumer's computers while shopping at Amazon.

Google's numbers

Yes, still doesn't answer the question.

Think about how worried we got about anthrax? We're soon to be in a situation where a modestly funded group can create a virus and if they're really good, one that is contagious for amonth before symptoms show.
