Title: Magento and Google analytics.
Post by: gm66 on January 29, 2016, 04:19:47 PM
It's not working.

I've tried sticking the account ID into the right place in system-config-sales-googleapi, no joy.
I've putting the script in the miscellaneous scripts section of the system-config-general-design, still no joy.

I've seen mixed results from people editing the template head.phtml, has anyone done this succesfully ?

Cheers,

Gary.

I don't use Magento, so caveats there.

But I've never had problems editing a template and throwing in the code. However, since that's effort and a screwup can cause a syntax error if you to in to make a change and drop a character (like a delimiter) we tend to edit the template and put in the Google Tag Manager code, and then we can load any analytics code we want. So if you decide you want to run some heatmapping with Crazy Egg, there's no template edit. You just manage it through GTM.

I should probably use GTM now that the business is growing.

The damn thing is working now and i haven't changed a thing ! (i sound like one of the users i used to give support to).

This hasn't been working for weeks, t3h core must have magic forum powers !

Cheers,

Gary.

>> magic forum powers

The phenomenon is similar to how your car stops making that weird noise just when you get a mechanic to look at it.

I think there's some sort of radiation involved.

Maybe a look in the Magento Commerce section for an extension:
https://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/google-analytics-by-fooman.html ?

Have you contacted to your Magento provider to get the answer? It seems that your problem is not easy to solve, so you may need help from the service provider to save your time!

It's solved now thanks.
