Title: Google is now prepending company name to page title in some cases ?
Post by: gm66 on June 28, 2016, 12:00:04 PM
I noticed my displayed page title had changed and now has 'Small SEO: " prepended to it.

This has also happened with the next company in the same SERP, pic attached.

I've made sure it's not to do with a WP update, seems to be coming from G, any ideas ?

Yes, it's Google doing it.

I've seen that too and I don't always like it.

Yeah, seen it a lot. The better the title, the lesser the rewriting imo.

I saw some data suggesting CTRs improve when Google rewrites titles.  Counter to what I would have expected, but I think they're actually trying to help and succeeding in many cases.

I'm thinking, the longer the title, the less rewriting. Must test.
